ELLEN DALE DONOGH

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Ellen Donogh at age 70 on December 26, 2025. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Brian, and loving daughters Jacqueline, Shannon (Andrew), and Danielle (Andrew). She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Elsie Burns.

Ellen’s love for literature began at an early age, where she discovered the power of the written word, inspiring her to pursue a career as a schoolteacher and teacher-librarian. Ellen walked many halls during her years as a teacher, where her passion for storytelling was remembered by teachers and students alike. This passion expanded into a role as a reviewer for the Canadian Children’s Book Center.

In her retirement Ellen enjoyed many activities including travelling, gardening, and baking - known famously by friends and family for her famous Christmas cookie platters. She enjoyed many summers with family at the cottage on Lake Winnipeg, where you would find her relaxing on a lawn chair with her latest beach read.

She will be forever remembered by her outgoing personality - a friend to all with a smile that lit up any room she was in, one we will miss for years to come.

Our family would like to send our deepest gratitude to WFPS, the staff at Health Sciences Centre ER and SICU for their care and compassion.

A celebration of Ellen’s life will take place at a later date.
